I don't think Xander would have become so smitten with you if you were the typical kind of housewife girl, anyway.
And I know I like you just as you are.

Personally, I do it because personal marketing research is important. And I like it. And...it's fun to weaponize it.

Not even Serah would just be a housewife, and Snow doesn't expect that of her.
He needs to tell me what he loves about me other than me lecturing everyone about losing hope.

I'm pretty sure you kicking his butt was fairly instrumental to the process.
He always looks really happy after you two have been sparring, like he's honestly enjoying himself! But not in a gross way.
As for anything else, I am not his confidant, so I wouldn't know and I suggest you have a talk to him about it if you're very concerned.

Oho, well, I'll say this:
Being self-sufficient in as many areas as possible is a wonderful intimidation factor for bullheaded executive-types who don't expect a teenage girl to understand carrotish business tactics.

He likes the fact that I can fight him as an equal.
His reflexes are getting better, but he's still got a way to go.
Would he even tell me is the question.

My way of being self-sufficient would make people think I'm a bachelor if I was a man.

If he's feeling up to it, I bet he would.

For now. If [Not when.] Xander ever decides he'd want to marry me, I can't exactly live like that anymore.

No, I suppose not. But it'd be interesting to come together and find out the type of life you could build together, wouldn't it?

I can't even imagine it other than what we usually do when I go over to visit.
Which isn't that much different than what happens when I'm around Serah. Just a lot of talking, doing things together, and spending time together.
I just feel that it might change if he were to ever want to marry me, and that scares me.

[I.e. mom is afraid that this might end up bad if it happens and they break up.]

There's nothing wrong with any of that, though.
Talking and doing things together and spending time together...if you love someone, even spending time doing hard work isn't so hard.
And if it changes, you'll both be working through those changes together. That's part of what being married is.
Besides, I certainly don't expect that to happen between you two for quite some time. You and Xander both like to take your time thinking about things and figuring out how to do them in the best way possible. Even if you are a little scared, I'll bet he's scared, too, so...you'll kind of need that time.

So it's one of those 'only time will tell' situations?
At that rate I'll have to be the one to propose if he's too scared to.

I think I'd rather go with the route Snow did and get a pendant.

I would want to pick a rose, but I don't think that would be a good idea.
Maybe it should be something simpler than that anyways.

Maybe something based on colors, then. You could mingle his magenta and your pink into a basic shape. I bet that'd be nice.

I bet a pendant maker would know what you meant by that, anyway.

I'll have to think of a design before I even go to see one of those.
We've been through a lot together so it'll be hard to choose.

Is there a specific symbol you think would look best?
Or a shape that's simple yet meaningful?
Nobody says you have to go to one with one design, after all. If you have options, you also have the opportunity to work with the maker on what would be best.
